Train to be an EHR Specialist at DelTech

Delaware Technical Community College’s Terry Campus is now offering Electronic Health Records (EHR) Specialist Certification. Certificate programs are also being developed at the Stanton/Wilmington and Owens Campuses.

The non-credit program addresses new federal mandates for electronic health records and anticipates increased demand for trained workers in this area in excess of the projections developed by the Department of Labor.  A government mandate for Medicare and Medicaid providers to use EHRs by 2016 will increase demand for trained EHR support staff over the next several years.

The proposed EHR training program will provide trained personnel to meet that need.  Through a Memorandum of Understanding with Quality Insights of Delaware, the area’s Regional Extension Center contractor, Delaware Tech will provide workforce development in health technology skills and Quality Insights will connect our graduates with physicians and hospitals in need of EHR specialist.
